Following yesterday’s Hische-centered inspirationfest, and needing a good birthday card for Carlie’s little sister who is turning 13, I decided to go out and buy some blank cards and envelopes and get creative. I came across Ms. Hische’s work via this weeks Layer Tennis match, which she competed in. Her handmade type work is so unbelievably inspirational and jaw-droppingly beautiful. It made me remember how much I love type (as if I really needed a reminder) and really got me wanting to experiment with handmade type.

In my mind, H&FJ are the Apple of the world of typography. They just know how to do it right, from the faces themselves, to the powerful descriptors and inspiring color schemes used on their site.
